Heike Hümmer, violone and viola da gamba, who joins toutes suites for the Bodinus CD, was born in Würzburg. She studied historical strings and performance practices at the Musikhochschule in Hamburg and in Würzburg. After earning her diploma she participated in master classers in Würzburg, at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Wieland Kuijken, and at the Schola Cantorum in Basel with Paolo Pandolfo.
Ms. Hümmer appears regularly with Baroque Orchestras including Les Amis, La Stagione, and others, plays chamber music with the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble, ecco la musica, and the Hassler-Consort, and works with renowned early music specialists, including Chiara Banchini, Gottfried von der Goltz, Ludger Rémy, and Anne Röhrig. Numerous Radio and CD recordings complement her work. Since 2000, she teaches viola da gamba at the Musikschule Stuttgart.
