Barbara Hofmann, viola da gamba and violone, began her career as soloist and continuo player after completing her studies with Prof. I. Stampa in Hamburg and Wieland Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. She has toured in England, France, Holland, Denmark and Poland with ensembles including Musica Fiata Köln, Weser Renaissance Bremen, Lauten Compagney Berlin and Musica Alta Ripa Hannover. B. Hofmann has recorded for radio stations such as NDR, MDR, Deutschlandfunk, Rias Berlin and the BBC, and is frequently asked to participate in CD-productions. Her instruments are viola da gamba, copied by Christian Brosse, Borstorf 1997 after Barbé, and violone, copied by Wolfgang Übel, Celle 1984.
