Anke Dennert studied harpsichord and clavichord with Professors Gisela Gumz in Hamburg and Robert Kohnen in Brussels, and with Andreas Staier in Cologne. She earned her Konzertexamen at the Musikhochschule Hamburg.

A. Dennert has appeared throughout Europe and has toured in the United States, performing with Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, Hamburger Barockorchester, Hamburger Telemann Orchester, and Ensemble Obligat, and with Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra and Nota Bene San Diego in the US. She is particularly interested in the forgotten music of the 17th and 18th centuries, including that of women composers, has appeared on Deutschlandfunk and NDR radio stations, has recorded harpsichord solo works and chamber music of Anna Bon di Venezia (on Aeolus), and the music of Sanssouci-Versailles with Ensemble Obligat (on GENUIN). She teaches historical keyboard instruments and thorough bass at the Hamburg Konservatorium, and offers courses on Early Music.
